The Emerald Brochis (Brochis splendens), also known as Emerald Green Corydoras, Emerald Catfish, Green Corydoras, is one of the largest and most impressive armored catfish available in the aquarium hobby. This peaceful bottom-dweller is admired for its striking metallic emerald-green body that shimmers with blue and turquoise highlights under aquarium lighting.

Despite often being sold as a Corydoras, Brochis splendens belongs to a closely related genus and grows noticeably larger than most Corydoras species. It thrives in groups where its natural schooling behavior can be observed, constantly searching the substrate for leftover food while helping keep the aquarium clean. Their calm temperament makes them an excellent addition to peaceful community aquariums alongside Discus, Angelfish, Tetras, Rainbowfish, Dwarf Cichlids, and other non-aggressive species.

A soft sandy substrate is highly recommended to protect their sensitive barbels while allowing them to forage naturally. Although they readily consume sinking pellets, frozen foods, and quality prepared diets, they should never be relied upon solely as "clean-up fish" and require regular feeding to maintain their excellent condition.

Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as "Large" or "Adult".
